I aim to build human connections and celebrate differences through my work as a journalist, tv producer and writer. The work I do is non-fiction, with the exception of a short book I wrote about a small boxer dog with a big boxing dream. My reading interests include memoirs & biographies and health & wellness topics.

I hold a bachelor’s degree from St. Olaf College and a master’s degree from the University of Hong Kong in Politics & Public Administration. I discovered a love of martial arts while living in Hong Kong where I practiced and taught karate under the late Cheung Shiu-kwong. Later I studied kung fu at the USA Shaolin Temple in New York under Shi Yan Ming.
