There are 64 days left of autumn. So that means there are 74 days left in this year.
Have you set goals for 2023 that you still want to meet? Remember, even if you take strides toward your goals and don't meet them, starting again today will find you closer than you would be if you didn't start again. There's still time. Don't give up.
Like you, I set a few goals this year too, and I wanted to share with you that I've just reached one of them. I’m excited about this one, and I think you’ll be excited for me too.
I passed my Wellness Coaching Certification exam.
Next, I’ll begin my coursework for Nutrition certification.
I will continue to work within my beloved non-fiction television career, and I’ll be welcoming coaching clients. I plan to bring my listening skills, heart and empathy to my wellness coaching, just as I have always done in my storytelling work.
What is a Wellness Coach?
As defined in my coursework by the National Academy of Sports Medicine, a wellness coach is a trained professional who assists clients in achieving their health and wellness goals by providing support, guidance, and accountability. Wellness is defined as an individual's journey towards mental, physical, social, and emotional betterment.
This pairing feels good to me because both of these areas — storytelling and wellness — are authentic and aligned to what I have cared about for a very long time: living well and helping others live well too.
While some of this is new to me I’ve facilitated corporate workshops in the past that focused on improving corporate culture. In those workshops, I used storytelling as a vehicle to build connection.
The Autumn Workshop
I just hosted an online wellness writing workshop in sync with the Autumn Equinox, and the experience was exhilarating.
Better still, I was swept away by the ways in which each participant took an introspective journey through insights found deep in the seasons of their lives. I was struck by the creativity as well as the sharing and caring that came through from every person who participated — especially because there was no requirement to share. Only an invitation. Their imaginations sparked mine, and I know each person ignited something beautiful in the next. I'm intensely grateful to this group.
Together we realized that when we build time for writing (first) and we sit down (second), writing happens! Revelations happen.
Writing promotes well-being and is a proven and uniquely transporting experience when it’s done within a supportive circle that is safe, secure and sacred.
Important note: Watch this space for information about upcoming events that will be co-led by my wise and wonderful friend, author and transformational coach, Kristy Sweetland and me.
Important final note: If you feel called to know more about working with me as a wellness coach, reach out to me through the contact page on https://www.stephaniehimango.com/contact.
Let’s find out if we’re a good fit, and if so, I’d love to walk with you on our wellness path.
Take good care of yourself and each other.

Song For Autumn by Mary Oliver
Don’t you imagine the leaves dream now
how comfortable it will be to touch
the earth instead of the
nothingness of the air and the endless
freshets of wind? And don’t you think
the trees, especially those with
mossy hollows, are beginning to look for the birds
that will come—six, a dozen—to sleep inside their bodies?
And don’t you hear the goldenrod whispering goodbye,
the everlasting being crowned with the first tuffets of snow?
The pond stiffens and the white field over which the fox runs so quickly
brings out its long blue shadows.
The wind wags its many tails. And in the evening the piled firewood
shifts a little, longing to be on its way.
